Built around 1974, my favourite outdoor basketball courts in Dublin, Micheal Casey used to march us down from school to play here, I must have been aged four or five, at that age we loved that there was one court with six foot baskets. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s the courts would be jammed all summer long, blasting our sounds from ghetto blasters. The courts were resurfaced in the early 90’s and newer baskets installed, the new mesh backboards although fire proof (the wooden ones were burnt down) are noisy and the bounce off them is as random as the Irish weather.
Update: We played on the court two weeks ago and the hoops are very rigid, at sunset the mozzies came out and ate us alive. New hoops and backboards would be a nice addition.
